Inter’s Italian Cup achievement for the second time in a row

Kriralok Desk: Inter Milan beat Fiorentina 2-1 to win the Italian Cup for the second time in a row despite falling behind with two goals from Lautaro Martinez. Fiorentina took the lead early in the match at the Stadio Olimpico through Nicolas Gonzalez. But Martinez made Simone Inzaghi’s team dream of victory by scoring two goals before the break.

With this, Inter showed the achievement of winning the second highest ninth title of the Italian Cup with Roma. Only Juventus have won the Italian Cup 14 times.

Six-time Italian Cup winners Fiorentina have not won a title since 2001. But they still have a chance to win the Europa Conference League title. West Ham will be their opponent in the final on June 7 in Prague. Three days later Manchester City will face Serie A champions Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Istanbul.

Fiorentina got off to a great start in the final in Rome when Gonzalez scored from Jonathan Iacon’s cross three minutes from time. The gap could have been doubled if Sofian Amrabat’s shot had not narrowly missed the post. Inter striker Edin Dzeko wasted a chance to score with Martinez’s assist.

In the 29th minute, Argentine forward Martinez did not make any mistakes. Conacuni beat Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terraciano to score his 100th goal in an Inter shirt. Eight minutes later, Martinez put the team ahead with a second goal from Niccolò Barella from the right.

Fiorentina substitute Luka Jovic missed two chances late in the match. The Serbian striker’s first chance was brilliantly blocked by Inter’s experienced goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. Another chance he then narrowly missed. Gonzalez almost got his second goal in overtime. His attempt failed at the last moment.
