Mohammedan’s loss even with a strong team

Kriralok Desk: Mohammedan, who could not play in the Super League in the last season of DPL, stumbled at the beginning of the league even with Shakib, Miraj, Riyad, Imrul and Rony Talukdar in the team. Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club lost by a huge margin of 128 runs to Gazi Gramnap in their first game at Fathulana Stadium on Thursday. Shakib and Miraj, however, did not play in this match.

Mohammedan’s innings collapsed for 221 runs under the mountain of Akbar Ali’s 349 runs. Rony Talukder 61 balls 80, Mahmudulsnah Riyad 57 balls 58, no one could stand Mohammedan. On the other hand, Abahani Limited beat Brothers Union by a huge margin in the Mirpur field by Enamul Haque Vijay’s century. They restricted Brothers to 248 runs with a target of 373 runs. Enamul and the team won by 124 runs. Abahani’s Enamul Haque Vijay became the man of the match by scoring 123 runs.

Meanwhile, Enamul scored 123 runs off 118 balls in the opening match of Abahani’s big win at Sher-e-bangla Stadium. At the end of the day, he was also the man of the match. Naeem Sheikh formed a big partnership with him. The opener played a brilliant innings of 85 runs off 74 balls. Afif Hossain also scored a half-century for Abahani. He scored 65 runs off 47 balls.

Among the rest, Mosaddek Hossain scored 46 runs and Zaker Ali scored 26 runs. Sabbir Hossain took 3 wickets for Brothers. Manik Khan got 2 wickets and Mohr Sheikh got 1 wicket. But none of the rest could last long at the crease. Sanjit Saha scored 16 runs. Zahiduzzaman and Nadif Chowdhury scored 15 runs. Ripon Mondal and Tanveer Islam took 2 wickets each for Abahani. Afif and Arpit got one wicket each.
