
Kriralok Desk: France coach Didier Deschamps has announced the squad for the Euro Qualifier match with three new footballers.
France coach Didier Deschamps named a 23-man squad for the 2024 European Championship qualifiers against the Netherlands and Ireland on Thursday (March 16). There are three new faces in the team. They are Chelsea centre-back Veslay Fofana, Nice midfielder Khéphren Thuram and Los goalkeeper Brice Samba.
France captain Hugo Lloris has retired after losing the World Cup title to Argentina. So the French are looking for a new captain. Kylian Mbappé is ahead in the race to be the captain even though there is no official announcement.
Called up to the team, Khéphren Thuram is the son of Lilian Thuram, a member of France’s 1998 World Cup winning team. Khéphren’s brother, Marcus Thuram, is already on the team. Olivier Giroud, the country’s record scorer, has also been included in the team by the French coach. The 36-year-old forward decided not to retire from the national team after the World Cup.
