Kriralok Desk: Barcelona is involved in a controversy off the field. There have been serious allegations of referee buying against the Spanish giants. The complaint did not stop there, the matter went to court. Spanish prosecutors filed a case against Barcelona and two former presidents of the club accusing them of buying referees.
Spain’s public prosecutor’s office announced the case on Friday (March 10), British media reported. However, no decision has been made on whether the case will be accepted by the judge. Not even the answer to how Barcelona will be punished.
From 1994 to 2018, Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira served as the Vice President of the Technical Committee of Referees in Spain. Allegations have been made that from 2001 to 2018, Barca paid 7.3 million euros to Negreira’s company ‘DASNIL Ninety Five’. The matter came to the fore last month.
Barca made a statement rejecting this accusation immediately after the incident was revealed. The club admitted paying the money but insisted it was not intended to influence the outcome of the match. In addition, the current president of the club, Juan Laporta, said a few days ago that they will provide details on the matter soon.
However, in the meantime, the case went to court. Let’s see whether the judge will accept the case or how Barcelona will be punished!
