Kriralok Desk: The UEFA Champions League is not closing the door for Cristiano Ronaldo after he stepped into Asian football. The Portuguese star’s hopes of returning to Europe’s top flight have been kept alive by a clause in his contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Spanish sports magazine Marca has brought forward the terms of the deal. The 37-year-old forward can play on the wing if Newcastle United qualify for the Champions League.
Premier League side Newcastle is currently in the third position. If they were to play in the Champions League, they would have been in the top four at the end of the season. The English club is currently owned by a Saudi Arabian investment group. Ronaldo’s current team Al Nassr is also from Saudi Arabia. Some people are also calculating in this way.
Ronaldo signed a contract with the Asian team last week. However, the financial details of the deal have not been officially disclosed. However, according to various media reports, he will earn more than 21 million dollars a year.
If Newcastle qualify for the Champions League, it might be ‘easier’ for Ronaldo to retain the record for the most goals in the continental competition. He is on top of this list with 140 goals.
Ronaldo will face Manchester United when he finally plays in Newcastle. “After the bad farewell” with his old club, he still has some pending things to sort out!
