Shubhman Gill’s new record

Kriralok Desk: Two days after whitewashing Sri Lanka, India started to play a 3-match ODI series against New Zealand. In the first match of the series yesterday, India’s batsmen could not make any advantage, but Shubman Gill, who came in to open, scored a double century. And with this, Shubman Gill completed the milestone of 1000 ODI runs as the fastest Indian cricketer and the second fastest batsman in world cricket. Besides, he has made the record of scoring a double century as the youngest cricketer.

Earlier, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan jointly held the record as the fastest Indian cricketer. Both of them took 24 innings. But Gill reached the milestone in just 19 innings.

In addition, he shared the second place with Pakistan’s Imam-ul-Haq in the list of fastest 1000 runs among all teams. Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman holds the record for fastest 1000 runs in ODI history. The left-handed batsman achieved this feat in 18 innings.

Earlier, Shubman Gill scored a century against Sri Lanka in the last match. India won the toss and decided to bat first against New Zealand in Hyderabad on Wednesday. India captain Rohit Sharma returned to the pavilion with a personal 34 runs. Despite playing a devastating innings of 166 runs in the last match of the series against Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli was dismissed for 8 runs in Hyderabad.

Ishan Kishan also got out for 5 runs. It is said that even though he lost consecutive wickets at one end, he stayed on the wicket till the last over.
