India has equalized the series

Kriralok Desk: Host India has returned to the parity in the three-match T20 series against New Zealand by the skill of the bowlers. India defeated New Zealand by 6 wickets in the second T20 of the series on Sunday (January 29). New Zealand won the first T20 by 21 runs.

New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first in Lucknow. Despite a good start, two New Zealand openers, Finn Allen and Devon Conway, departed in the power play. Both scored 11 runs.

After losing two openers for the team’s 28 runs, New Zealand could not overcome the initial shock. The middle-order was helpless against the Indian spinners. New Zealand’s sixth wicket fell for 80 runs. Glenn Phillips 5, Daryl Mitchell 8, Mark Chapman 14 and Michael Bracewell departed after scoring 14 runs.

In the end, captain Mitchell Santner did not let New Zealand, who were in danger of a quick collapse, fall into shame. New Zealand scored 99 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. This is New Zealand’s lowest run in T20Is against India. Santner remains unbeaten with 19 runs off 23 balls. India lost their first wicket in the fourth over with an easy target of 100 runs to level the series. Opener Shubman Gill returned with 11 runs. Ishan Kishan, another opener who batted in Test mood, left in the ninth over. He was run out after scoring 19 runs off 32 balls.

In the middle-order, Rahul Tripathi was out for 13 and Sundar 10 runs. India lost the fourth wicket for 70 runs in the 15th over. In such a situation, Suryakumar Yadav and Pandya could not score quick runs against the New Zealand bowlers, needing 27 runs in the last 5 overs. They could not hit any boundary or over boundary in the first 25 balls in the fifth wicket pair.

After scoring 3 runs in the first four balls of the last over, Surya hit a boundary in the fifth ball to ensure India’s win. Surya scored an excellent 26 runs off 31 balls. Pandya remained unbeaten on 15 runs off 20 balls. The third and final T20 of the series will be held in Ahmedabad on February 1.
