I didn’t bring him out to show him respect: Ten Haag

Kriralok Desk: Manchester United coach Erik Ten Haag did not let Cristiano Ronaldo play in the match that was defeated by Manchester City 6-3. The Red Devil coach gave a strange explanation about not dropping CR Seven. According to him, the 37-year-old footballer did not play with respect for his long career!

United fell behind 4-0 in the first half of the match at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday. Ten Haag didn’t feel the need to let the Portuguese superstar play despite the team’s deplorable condition.

Where Victor Lindelof, Anthony Martial, Fred, Casemiro and Luke Shaw all played the match, Ronaldo sat on the bench and watched the team’s woes. Man United coach’s strong claim about not playing him, CR7 does not deserve to be humiliated by Man City.

“I will never disrespect Cristiano for his long career. Another thing was, I brought in Anthony Marshall. But I don’t want to highlight the matter like this.”

Anthony Martial scored two goals in the second half but to no avail. As the Red Devils were doomed, it was already done. Ten Haag alleged that the team’s footballers showed the wrong attitude from kick-off.

Ten Haag said, “It’s because of lack of faith that it’s easy to understand. When you don’t believe on the field, you can’t win matches. This is very unacceptable. We became unruly while following the rules. This is what happened today.”

Moreover he said, “All credit goes to City. But there was nothing to do against City. Our performance was not good. It had to do with faith as individuals and as a group. I felt it from the first minute.”

At last Ten Haag added, “I can’t think of anything positive at the moment. If we disappoint our fans, we make ourselves down. We are very disappointed too.”
