Marcelo banned for 3 matches for calling referee ‘Too bad’

Kriralok Desk: Real Madrid went through two controversial incidents in last night’s match against Elche. From the point of view of the Madrid club, the foul that led to Tony Cruz being shown a yellow card does not exist. Marcelo’s case is a little bigger.

Real captain saw red card for foul. In response, he also said bad things to the referee. Real thinks Marcelo’s foul doesn’t exist either.

However, Marcelo was banned for three matches in response to the federation. Real will appeal against both punishments.

Real reached the quarter-finals after beating Elche 2-1 in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey. Athletic Bilbao are Real’s opponents in the last eight.

The 33-year-old Brazilian left-back was banned for two extra matches after referee Figueroa Vasquez was told “You are too bad” in the 102nd minute of the match the day before yesterday. The red card shows the rest of the match had to be out of the field.

Marcelo will have to pay not only the ban but also the fine. The total fine is 2,250 euros. The referee was fined 1,300 euros for making bad comments. Elche, who left the field after receiving a second yellow card, has been banned for one match.

The referee’s match report said: “In the 102nd minute, the number 12 player Marcelo was shown a red card and sent off. Because he has thrown the opponent and the opportunity to score a goal is lost. After seeing the red card, he told me, “You’re too bad.”

Marcelo’s penalty will be effective in the Copa del Rey tournament. In other words, Real will not get Marcelo in the quarter final against Athletic Bilbao. If he wins the quarter-finals, he will not be available in the semi-finals.

On that case, it is doubtful whether Marcelo played his last match in the Copa del Rey in Real Madrid’s jersey. The Brazilian leftback’s contract with Real is coming to an end at the end of this season. There are rumors in the Spanish media that it is more likely not to be renewed.

If the contract is not renewed, the Real-Chapter will end at the end of the season. In that case, if Real Madrid cannot reach the final, or if Marcelo is not in the squad for the match, then the match of the day will be his last Copa del Rey match in Real’s jersey.

According to a Spanish news media, Real had appealed to the Copa del Rey to request that Marcelo’s sentence be lifted. A video was attached to the petition stating that Morente did not have a physical altercation with Elche. But the committee rejected the application.

Tony Cruz also received a yellow card for fouling Morente. However, the TV replay showed that Morent had no physical contact with Cruz. Cruz also joked about it.
