Kriralok Desk: Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana has named both Manchester United and Manchester City among his dream clubs to play for.
Fofana joined Leicester as a teenager last year and had a brilliant debut season in the Premier League, quickly establishing himself as one of the division’s best centre-backs and attracting the interest of some big clubs.
The 20-year-old was repeatedly linked with an exit from the King Power this past summer, with United and City among the clubs touted with an interest.
Should either of them fancy turning that into something more concrete in the future, then it sounds as if Fofana would certainly be up for a move to Manchester – though plenty of other teams got a mention as well.
“A club that makes me dream? There’s Marseille, Real Madrid, Barca. In the Premier League, there are Chelsea, United, City… But you have to work to make your dreams come true,” he told Actu Foot, via SportWitness. “Through work, you can achieve anything.
“Playing for Marseille one day? Maybe we’ll see. I have been a Marseille supporter since I was born. Marseille is a dream. We don’t know what football is made of.”
United brought in Raphael Varane in an attempt to fix their defensive problems in the summer, which hasn’t gone entirely to plan due to the time the Frenchman has spent on the sidelines.
United were still interested in adding another centre-back after bringing in Varane from Madrid, with Villarreal’s Pau Torres looked at, so might consider improving the heart of their defence further next summer, though a new defensive-midfielder is the priority.
