CSA agree to appoint interim board

kriralok desk:

Cricket in South Africa took a great leap forward on Monday (November 16) when CSA’s members council agreed to appoint the interim board as proposed by government, Cricbuzz has learnt. The decision was made at the council’s fourth meeting since Wednesday, when it said it would refuse to recognise the new structure.

CSA will now avoid state control, as sports minister Nathi Mthethwa has the authority to do under South African law. Consequently, the ICC will likely not have to deal with complaints of outside interference by CSA – which could lead to the suspension of South Africa’s teams from international competition. Or not: it would surprise no-one who has followed the saga if the members council used the development to bolster a case for interference.

And all that with England due to arrive on Tuesday to play six white-ball internationals November 27, the first time South Africa will be in action since March.
