Lionel Messi has no intention of leaving Barcelona at the end of this season.
The Blaugrana captain won’t trigger the exit clause in his contract next June and will instead wait until next season to negotiate a renewal at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed a few days ago that the club hope to offer Messi a lifetime contract.
“If Leo feels strong and ambitious, extended his contract indefinitely will surely be the will of everyone involved,” Bartomeu said.
“I always compare him with Pele. Pele was a one-club man in Brazil.
“I have no doubt that, after Messi hangs up his boots, he will stay linked to this club for the rest of his life.
“Messi’s form is showing no signs of letting him and, with his family settled in Barcelona, leaving the Camp Nou hasn’t even crossed his mind.
