
Kriralok Desk: The draw for the (AFC) Asian Cup U-23 qualifiers took place on Thursday (May 25) in Malaysia. After the draw, Bangladesh fell into the ‘H’ group. In this group, Malaysia-Philippines-Thailand are getting as opponents of red-greens. The qualifiers will be held in Thailand from September 4 to 12.
The 43 participating countries were divided into 11 groups in the draw held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia on Thursday. Among them, 4 teams will play in 10 groups from ‘A’ to ‘J’ and there are three teams in ‘K’ group. The top 11 teams in the selection group and the top five runners-up will get a total of 16 teams to play in the final round. Then the final phase will take place next year in Qatar.
The country will play directly in the main stage as the host. The competition will also be considered as a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics football event. As a result, the top three teams will get a chance to play in the Olympics.
Meanwhile, compared to the last time, the Bangladesh team got an easier opponent this time. The red-greens were in the group of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the last selection. After struggling against Kuwait 1-0, the team lost 3-0 to Saudi Arabia. Bangladesh fell from the bottom of the group with two consecutive losses.
